How
are Allied-Gator® tools different from other tools?
Allied-Gator® shears and crushers are made from high-strength
cast alloy steel components that are of optimal design resulting
in the strongest, lightest and most dependable shears and
crushers on the market today. All Allied-Gator products
are designed to provide many years of productive operation.

What are the advantages of high-strength cast alloy steel
components?
It is a generally accepted engineering principal that tools,
which are cast from the proper materials, can be optimally
designed to reduce total weight and maximize strength. Cast
steel alloy components do not have internal directional stresses
that are inherent in fabricated weldments.

How many years of useful life should be expected from an Allied-Gator®
tool?
The rigid design standards set for Allied-Gator® attachments
have been proven by the tests of time, with many units still
in use today having more than a decade of service.
With regular maintenance and proper care, all Allied-Gator
attachments are designed to last.

What is important to know about cutting force?
The amount of available cutting force is directly related
to production and tool life. Therefore, it should be
a major factor when deciding which shear will work best and
for the longest period of time. Each manufacturer is independently
responsible for the cutting force ratings they publish for
their equipment. Cutting force values are calculations
typically based on hydraulic force inputs and tool geometry.
The best way to evaluate cutting force is to actually see
how a shear handles specific materials in a direct comparison.
However, this is not always possible. In order to make
a sound decision, compare competitors’ cutting force
values only after fully understanding the information they
provide and how their ratings were determined and then compare
cutting forces on an “apples-to-apples” basis.
Our highly qualified staff will be happy to assist you in
the evaluation process.

How does the power efficiency rating affect cutting force?
Power efficiency is the percentage of maximum cutting force
that can actually be utilized for work. Traditional shears
(with a single moving jaw) typically have a power efficiency
rating that averages 75%. This efficiency rating is attributed
to the fact that cutting force actually decreases as much
as 25% after the jaw reaches its maximum mechanical advantage.
For example: If a shear has an efficiency rating of 75% and
a cutting force rating of 1,000 tons, in reality it can only
effectively utilize 750 tons of effective force over the materials
it cuts (1,000 X .75 = 750). In contrast, The new Allied-Gator®
MT™ 70 mobile shear has an efficiency rating of 99%
(due to its unique design) and a calculated shear force rating
of 1,043 tons. Because, the MT 70 can effectively utilize
all of the 1,043 tons of force over the materials it cuts,
it has a comparative “real world” cutting force
equal to that of a traditional 1,400-ton rated shear (1,400
X .75 = 1,050). Power efficiency and cutting force are very
important aspects to consider when comparing competing brands
of shears.

How
much more productive are the MT™ Series shear and concrete
processor compared to others on the market?
The MT™ Series was designed to outperform all of its
competitors. This is because of its unique features.
* The perfectly controlled, dual-moving jaws and continuous
360° rotation work “in concert” to manipulate
and process materials with a precision action that is similar
to that of a human hand.* The MT’s linkage system gives
it the ultimate shearing and crushing power along with the
highest overall power efficiency rating available today.*
The fully enclosed, internal hydraulic cylinder eliminates
the potential for cylinder and rod damage.* The MT Series
is completely modular, simple to maintain, and easy to reconfigure
for many different applications.* The MT Series shear and
concrete processor jaw set hub assemblies need NO field adjustments
and only require regular greasing and lubrication.* The MT
Series Multi-Tool shear jaw set is easily interchangeable
with the concrete processor jaw set for maximum job site versatility.*
The MT Series can be used for 2nd, 3rd, and 4th member applications
in both rotating and non-rotating configurations to meet any
specialized requirements.* The MT Series product line consists
of 11 different sizes to meet the needs of almost any size
job.

What
are the maintenance requirements of the MT™ Series Multi-Tool
compared to other shears and/or concrete processing attachments?
Allied-Gator® has specifically designed the MT™
Series Multi-Tool to be low maintenance. Tip performance and
blade life have been dramatically increased by the effective
cutting action of the MT Series shear. The cast steel alloy
components are extremely wear resistant and easily maintained.
There are no hub adjustments ever required. Normal maintenance
consists of occasional blade/wear-plate flipping and/or replacement,
tip build-up, and regular greasing and lubrication.

How
long does it take to change the MT™ Series Multi-Tool
from a shear jaw set to a concrete processor jaw set and vice
versa?
The change-out time between either jaw set is under twenty
minutes.
